Dear A-12-year-old

Dear  A-12-year-old,

How are you? How's the school going? Who gave the speech today in morning assembly on Jawaharlal Nehru? Did you get dressed in the famous Nehru shirt and got a red rose pinned to it? School must seem exciting to meet all your friends after festive holidays.
I hope you are doing your homework regularly and getting them signed by your teacher. Unit tests must be around the corner. Not yet in a mood to study?  Well, it is boring but you have to study. You just need to try your best. But, do not cry if you come sixth the class. Remember, your efforts matter the most. Make sure you correct your mistakes, that's it.
During Games period, play your heart out but also, be a team player. Do not make fun of  friends when they miss a catch, okay?  I know its difficult but maintain your classwork. It is your savior during exams. Few girls must be really irritating in class! Ignore them if they make fun of you. In any case, do not tease them. Participate in co-curricular activities. Don't bother about winning. Just do and you will love doing it.

Lastly, have fun doing all this. School days are most cherished times. You will make friends for life here. School is about to finish in two years' time. I hope you make lot of memories, get lot of scoldings, beatings and bashing :D Trust me, that's the fun part. Study hard, play harder  and have lots and lots of friends. After a decade, flipping through funny pictures of you and your friends- carefree, joyous, stupid- your heart will be warmed by those frames and leave you wishing how you would do anything to go back to school again.

A-nostalgic-25-year-old,
Prerana
