Dance: my first love
I will tell this straight: I love dancing. I’ve always been on stage right from my LKG in school. My teachers even remember for the same. I have always enjoyed myself when music is on. Especially, the feeling of performing in front of a large audience fuels my energy. Luckily enough, till date I’ve never been shy to shake a leg-or-two. Be it Madhuri hits or songs of our Hindu Gods, I have always been up for them. Although, I have stopped my classical training a long time ago, I still love to watch pure classical dance shows. Never count me in those favouring fusion. My support for experimentation in art and dance is extended as long as the essence is unadulterated.
Dancing is a kind of self-expression. Grace, poise, expressions, beats, emotions are integral part of any performance. It takes tremendous effort and discipline for dancers to make the choreography relate to their audience. I am honoured to have come from a place where classical dancers are respected and revered. It’s a joyous experience every single time I go to a classical dance show. Artists like Arushi Mudgal, Leela Samson, Rukmini Devi, Pandit Birju Maharaj and many more have been the cornerstone of Bharatiya Shastriya Nritya. I will be take my liberty to be partial and say Arushi Mudgal is my all time favourite. I just cannot wait to see her performance live.
I’m in love with Indian dances or any other dance-form, for that matter. Every true dancer knows to respect all others. If you are one among the dancers, let your talent flow. Sharam karne ke liye na beta, hamari zindagi bahot choti hai. Sab kuch khadde mein pheko aur apna hunar dikhao!
P.S.- I want to dance on the song ‘Theruvil Varano’ someday.
Dance your heart out,
Prerana
